This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to dive into the art of capturing the serene beauty of flowers in a static, yet dynamic form.
This will be a very limited spots workshop so participants can really learn new skills and also create something right there.
The Flowers will be your models. We will get to study their natural form and learn how to photograph them.
In this workshop you will learn about composition and using natural light to photograph floral arrangements.
In terms of technical skills, you will be taught how to use your digital camera settings in order to achieve the desired effects. (we will not spend time on finding where the aperture or iso buttons are on your camera). For example playing around with aperture settings to control depth of field, adjusting shutter speed to capture movement or stillness, and mastering the use of natural lighting to enhance the mood and atmosphere of the photographs.
Practical aspects such as styling and props will also be covered, offering insights into how to create cohesive and visually engaging setups that complement the floral subjects.
Furthermore, your instructor Helen will share some post-processing techniques using software like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom, allowing you to refine your images.
Still life floral photography is not only a fun hobby of shooting flowers, it is also a meditative and a relaxing pursuit which offers you the chance to explore the timeless allure of flowers through the lens of a camera.
Helen is a well established local photographer who has been shooting floral photography for over five years. You probably have seen her work hanging at Prism Arts. For her, floral photography is a happy place and an uncompromising me-time.
