Past event: ThirdAge Exhibit

We are very excited to announce ThirdAge exhibit at Prism Arts Philadelphia.

Larry Wood a one of a kind metal craftsman, dilettante artist and an amazing conversationalist whose favorite response to making things, has always been "let's just do it"!

This will be a multi medium exhibition displaying a collection with a myriad of styles.

  • Flesh on Steel, will showcase Larry's talent at hand drawing human flesh on stainless steel. It's a common story for an artisan - After decades of building what other people want for too little money, a metalworker can hardly avoid finding himself lying prone in despondency during the gloom of yet another miserable January. Yet, it was in this condition that an idea bubbled up- that this hard-earned skill-set of manipulating the finishes on metals that had been so diligently learned and applied to enhance the interiors of a client list, well... it involves a very simple principal: controlling light and dark. If a person can apply, and more importantly, remove, light and dark on a surface, a person can DRAW with it, no matter the media!
So, the boy began to draw…

  • World History told by Tree Rings. If trees could talk what would they tell us. This section will show timelines of human history or major events on ancient tree stumpcastings. A very special and dear project as it makes you think how we much we have evolved as a human race but we didn't do it alone, we did it along side these magnificent old trees that carry so much knowledge inside of them.

  • Philadelphia's Finest - Sewer Cap Rubbings. Yes, we did have a bit of fun naming this section. But you will never look at sewer caps the same again. You will wonder if the one you are walking on has been the star of the show :). Weather permitting, Larry Wood might do a real life demo of how this is done and you can walk around Philly to create your own and take a piece of Philadelphia's history home.

  • *Scherenschnitte - Delicate art work. This will be a lovely moment to take a closer look and wonder at the all the details that are not left out, or should I say cut out :).

The exhibition will be open to public on
Friday, March 24th 5pm - 10 pm
Sunday, March 26th 1pm - 10 pm
